A company’s accounts tell you what it earned last quarter. These tell you what it is actually doing: how many vehicles are registered, how much capacity is contracted, what has been built. Every figure names its source and the date it was true.

  Everyone announces robotaxis - how many are registered to drive?

  Tesla's registered robotaxi fleet has gone from 69 to 420 since 2026-06-11 - 6.1x in that time - against 988 for Waymo and 5 for Zoox. These are vehicles registered to operate, not cars carrying passengers on any given day, and the gap between those two numbers is the whole question.

• What the regulator has been told

  How often do robotaxis file a crash report with the federal regulator?

  Waymo filed 12 crash reports with the regulator in July 2026, more than Tesla and Zoox combined (1). A report is required whenever the automated system was engaged, whoever was at fault, so this counts exposure as much as it counts error - and Waymo has by far the most vehicles on the road.
