The Circle story
Circle issues USDC and builds blockchain payment infrastructure, with its expansion depending on whether wider institutional use can generate revenue beyond income on stablecoin reserves.

The story in brief
- Usage outpaces revenue. In the quarter to June 2026, USDC onchain transaction volume grew 151% to $14.8 trillion, while total revenue and reserve income grew 7% to $701 million.
- Reserves still dominate. Circle generated $668 million of reserve income in the quarter to June 2026, compared with $34 million of other revenue.
- Guidance includes tokens. Circle's increased full year 2026 guidance for other revenue and its margin after distribution, transaction and other costs includes recognized ARC Token presale revenue.
What drives the business
- Circle's business is anchored by USDC and EURC stablecoins and the income earned on their backing assets, while its broader platform spans the Arc blockchain, digital assets and liquidity services, and applications such as Circle Payments Network and StableFX.
- USDC circulation reached $73.3 billion at the end of June 2026, up 19% from a year earlier, while Circle Payments Network reached $14.7 billion in annualized transaction volume over the trailing 30 days with 175 financial institutions enrolled.
- BNY, the primary custodian of USDC reserves, expanded its partnership to add USDC minting and redemption within its digital asset custody platform, while Circle expanded its USDC promotion arrangement with Binance in September 2026.
- Circle's September 2026 agreement to acquire Tazapay would add a payments platform with over $25 billion in annualized payment volume and 60+ banking and fintech partners, with closing expected in 2027 subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
- Circle received final approval to establish Circle National Trust and approval to open Circle New York Trust, extending the regulated infrastructure behind its custody and stablecoin services.
What the price assumes
The growth assumption embedded in Circle's price is not measured because TenQ does not run a reverse DCF for companies classified under a finance industry code, where free cash flow may not measure earnings.
At $80.84 per share and a $20.5 billion market value, Circle trades at 28.4x earnings and 7.1x sales, against revenue growth of 37.2% over the last twelve months.
Its 3.7% free cash flow yield clears TenQ's 3% check, but its 3.5% earnings yield falls short of the 5.3% Treasury benchmark.
What could change the story
- Reserve income remains sensitive to interest rates: in the quarter to June 2026, average USDC circulation grew 25%, but a 66 bps decline in the reserve return rate limited reserve income growth to 5%.
- Competition from financial institutions, offshore issuers and yield-bearing digital assets could reduce stablecoin demand, while the GENIUS Act may change reserve requirements and the competitive landscape.
- Rapid redemptions during a loss of confidence could cause delays or reserve shortfalls in extreme circumstances, and technology or custody failures could expose Circle to lost funds, customers and regulatory penalties.
- Arc and the ARC Token introduce adoption, cybersecurity and regulatory risks, including possible repayment obligations if key launch milestones are not achieved.
- Despite $1.7 billion in cash and short-term investments and $0 total debt, Circle fails TenQ's near-term liquidity check at 1.03 versus 1.50, and $224 million of stock-based pay over the last twelve months was not offset by share repurchases.
What to watch next
- Circle expects USDC circulation to grow at a 40% compound annual growth rate over a multi-year cycle, making circulation, reserve returns and distribution costs important measures alongside transaction volume.
- For full year 2026, management raised other revenue guidance to $310-$330 million and its margin after distribution, transaction and other costs to 41.7-43.7%, while keeping adjusted operating expenses at $570-$585 million, so the split between ARC Token presale revenue and recurring services will matter.
- The August 2026 release scheduled Arc's public mainnet launch for September 16 and named BlackRock, DTCC, Mastercard and Visa among its founding validators, leaving launch execution, institutional activity and the expected deployment of BlackRock's BUIDL fund as points for subsequent updates.
- Circle's September 2026 announcement said CFO Jeremy Fox-Geen would remain through the end of December 2026 unless a successor was appointed sooner, making the leadership handoff another item for the next releases.
