The Kroger story
What drives Kroger, what its price assumes and what could change the story, written from its own filings.
- Profit outpaces sales. In the quarter to August 2026, identical sales without fuel rose 0.2%, while adjusted earnings per share rose to $1.09 from $1.04 a year earlier.
- Digital changes direction. After announcing automated fulfillment closures in November 2025, Kroger reported adjusted eCommerce sales growth of 20 percent in the quarter to August 2026.
- Cash has competing demands. Kroger reaffirmed fiscal 2026 free cash flow guidance of $2.7 to $2.9 billion while pursuing Giant Eagle and continuing share repurchases.
