The Macy's story
What drives Macy's, what its price assumes and what could change the story, written from its own filings.
- Luxury leads growth. In the quarter to August 2026, Bloomingdale’s comparable sales rose 11.3%, while Macy’s Reimagine 200 stores grew 1.9% against 1.1% for the Macy’s brand.
- Refunds lift earnings. Adjusted diluted EPS of $0.63 in the quarter to August 2026 included a $0.23 net tariff refund benefit, with growth of 14% excluding that benefit.
- Cash supports the transition. Macy’s generated $1.4 billion in free cash flow over the last twelve months and ended the quarter to August 2026 with $1.3 billion in cash against $2.4 billion in debt.
