The Sezzle story

Sezzle provides checkout installment credit, with the central question whether subscriptions and broader merchant access can sustain growth without weakening loan performance or margins.

The story in brief

  • Growth remains substantial. Revenue reached $532 million over the last twelve months, growing 43.1%, below the 53.1% annual pace over the last three years.
  • Funding terms improved. In May 2026, Sezzle announced a $300 million receivables facility with Mesirow Alternative Credit at SOFR plus 3.86%, replacing a facility with a 6.75% spread.
  • Cash expectations differ. The reverse DCF implies 3.8% annual growth in free cash flow after stock pay for ten years, compared with 65.1% growth over the last twelve months.

What drives the business

  • Sezzle's flagship installment product extends credit at checkout, while Sezzle Premium and Sezzle Anywhere subscriptions let shoppers use virtual cards beyond directly integrated merchants, subject to restrictions.
  • The business earns merchant processing fees, partner income, subscriptions and consumer fees, with merchant and partner income accounting for 29% of revenue and subscriptions accounting for 22% in the year ended December 31, 2025.
  • WebBank has been the exclusive issuer of Sezzle's card products and consumer loans since September 26, 2024, and the companies amended their loan and receivables sale and marketing and servicing agreements on August 12, 2026.
  • The May 2026 Mesirow Alternative Credit refinancing established $300 million of committed funding plus a $75 million accordion, with advances of up to 92.5% of eligible receivables originations depending on receivable performance.
  • Over the last twelve months, Sezzle generated $275 million of free cash flow against $7 million of stock-based pay, alongside a 40.4% operating margin and a 30.4% net margin.

What the price assumes

At $117.22, the reverse DCF implies that free cash flow after stock pay grows 3.8% a year for ten years using a 10.3% discount rate.

That compares with 65.1% growth over the last twelve months and the TenQ check's 34.6% bar, which slows the recorded growth halfway toward 4%.

The cash growth check passes, but the earnings yield of 3.9% falls below the 10-year Treasury yield of 5.3%, and the 7.0% free cash flow yield is below its historical 7.4%.

What could change the story

  • Sezzle absorbs credit losses on its core products, so weaker consumer spending and higher defaults could reduce transaction volume and cash flow together.
  • Funding availability depends on eligible receivables and their performance, while reliance on WebBank concentrates loan origination and card issuance with a single partner.
  • Greater regulatory scrutiny could add compliance costs or restrict expansion, particularly for a model with significant subscription and consumer fee revenue.
  • Competition from banks, lenders and fintech platforms could reduce merchant fees or require more incentives, while technology, product and merchant expansion spending could pressure margins.
  • Revenue growth has slowed relative to its longer record, and the share count rose 556.6% over the last three years, making per-share progress a separate test from business growth.

What to watch next

  • The October 8, 2026 announcement scheduled results for the quarter to September 2026 for November 4, 2026, but contained no operating results or financial guidance.
  • The next results can show whether revenue growth and subscription revenue are holding up alongside credit losses and the 40.4% operating margin.
  • Funding utilization, eligible receivables and financing costs can show how the Mesirow facility supports expansion, while free cash flow after stock pay and share count can distinguish business growth from per-share progress.
