The NextEra Energy story
What drives NextEra Energy, what its price assumes and what could change the story, written from its own filings.
- Investment drives utility earnings. FPL invested approximately $2.4 billion in the quarter to September 2026, lifting regulatory capital employed by approximately 9.2% from the prior year.
- Storage expands the pipeline. Energy Resources added 3.7 gigawatts of renewables and storage in the quarter to September 2026, leaving approximately 36.7 GW in backlog after projects entered service.
- Funding remains central. NextEra ended September 2026 with $106.0 billion of debt and $5.6 billion of cash, while its pending Dominion combination still required regulatory approvals.
